DENTON, Texas (1/24/13) - North Texas sprinter Clint Collins was named
the Sun Belt Conference Track Athlete of the Week for his performance at the JD
Martin Invitational last Saturday.
Collins nabbed a first-place finish in the men's 200-meter
dash as well as a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash. In the 60-meter
dash, Collins qualified fifth with a time of 7.02 and improved by .09 seconds
(6.93) in the finals to take third place. Collins went on to win the 200-meter
dash in a school season-best time of 21.78.
"It felt very rewarding," Collins said. "I worked really hard
this offseason and I feel that some of that work is paying off. And it's motivating
because it's the first one of the year and the season has just started. It's a good
motivating tool to make me work harder."
Collins is currently in 29th-place on the NCAA Division I Indoor
Qualifying List with a converted 200-meter time of 21.40.
North Texas track & field will be back in action on
Friday when it heads south to the Howie Ryan Invitational & Multi's at the
Yeoman Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Houston.
