DENTON, Texas - North Texas men's golf coach Brad Stracke announced the signing of Cory Churchman to a National Letter of Intent. Churchman, a senior at Abilene Cooper High School, won the West Texas Junior Champions Tour Championship by seven strokes in August. In total, Churchman has won 10 tournaments in his first three years of high school and has 11 wins through the fall of 2012. "I'm very excited to sign Corey to our 2013 class," said coach Stracke. "He has a lot of attributes we look for. He's a tough competitor, intelligent, and a great ball striker with good length off the tee. Cory Also can shoot some really low scores. Needless to say we are very excited to have him join our program. Churchman dominated the West Texas Junior Champions tournament in August, winning by seven strokes. He won two tournaments as a freshman and qualified for the Class 4A state golf tournament, where he finished in 12th place. He is a two-time winner of the District 3-5A individual championship. |
