Taylor Smith, a former standout player at Liberty Christian High School and Northern Colorado, has rejoined the Mean Green volleyball program once again as a volunteer assistant coach.

Smith spent the last two years working on her Master's degree in counseling and college student development from Kansas State. While in Manhattan, she worked as a graduate assistant academic counselor for the the Wildcats football team, as well as expanding her coaching resume with the Konza Club Volleyball team, K-State Volleyball Summer Camps, Junction City JV Summer League team and private lessons.

She began her coaching career in 2010 as a volunteer assistant with the Mean Green, helping North Texas win the Sun Belt West Division title. She also helped organize and run the Mean Green Juniors.

Tthe 2009 Northern Colorado team captain, Smith made school history by leading the program to its first ever NCAA Tournament berth. The middle blocker was a two-time All-Big Sky Conference selection who graduated with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science.

The Denton native has plenty of experience playing in what is now called the Mean Green Volleyball Center. Smith's Liberty Christian squads played in the facility before NT moved in just before the 2006 season. She even got the opportunity to play in the Mean Green Volleyball Classic against North Texas as a senior, notching 33 kills on .483 hitting in three tournament matches.

After finishing her playing career, Smith interned in Northern Colorado's Varsity Weight room as a strength and conditioning intern. She was also a personal Trainer at Rocky Mountain Cancer Rehabilitation Institution, showing cancer patients the benefits of exercise during chemotherapy treatments.
