Height: 5-9
Class:
Junior
Signed:
In 2008 from Haltom High School
2009 Key Stat: 8, as in
the number of games Dunbar started in the 2009 campaign. Eight is also the
number of games he went over the century mark in rushing yards. The fact that
Dunbar registered 1,378 yards rushing in a season where he didn't start four of
the games, and only got more than 15 carries in a game six times, shows how
explosive he is.
Why he will start:
Coming off of a phenomenal sophomore year, Dunbar has
locked up the starting job for 2010. His quick feet and ability to move through
holes and into the end zone is unmatched on the Mean Green.
Why he won't start: The
only way Lance Dunbar won't start is if he gets injured during fall camp. Someone find this guy a red jersey!
Don't' forget
: Versatility is Dunbar's friend. He's a double threat out
of the backfield with blazing speed and soft hands. Dunbar averaged 10.7
yards per catch to go along with his 6.9 yards per carry.
Overall: If we see the same Dunbar we saw in 2009 make a reappearance in 2010 you could be looking at a legitimate Doak Walker Award (Best RB) Candidate. Assuming he stays healthy, you could be looking at an 300-400 yards on the ground with the extra four starts putting him around the 1,700 yard mark.
