The North Texas Athletic Department this morning launched a new website dedicated to the Mean Green football program, www.ntmeangreenfootball.com.

While the site, created primarily as a tool to aid recruiting, features videos produced by the athletic department, its focus is on four main topics: the coaches, the facilities, the championships and program history, and the program's NFL connections. Each of those subjects has its own page.

Because of the growing role of devices like the iPad, ntmeangreenfootball.com does not use Flash, the Internet application used for animation and video but which is not compatible with all devices. In designing ntmeangreenfootball.com, a determined effort was made to create a site that was dynamic and visually appealing but also accessible to all visitors. Therefore, unlike similar websites from other athletic programs, ntmeangreenfootball.com is fully functional on the iPad. In fact, some of the site's non-Flash functions have been optimized for touch-screen users.

The site was designed and built in-house by the North Texas Athletic Department.  It's the third stand-alone website created by the athletic department this year, and more websites are in the planning stages for other sports.
