MONTREAL, Canada- In her final of three events at the Canadian Olympic time trials, North Texas swimmer Krista Rossum placed 26th in the 200-meter Breast clocking a 2:38.69. The freshman outperformed 84 other swimmers also fighting for a spot on the 2012 Canadian national swim team.
In each race, the top eight swimmers make the 'A' final and nine through 18 make the 'B' final. Rossum missed the 18th place cutoff time by 3.46 seconds (2:35.23). The winner of her heat and overall victor of the 200-meter breast produced the fastest time with a 2:27.57. Converted from a short course pool (25-yards) to an Olympic long course pool (50-meters), Rossum's school record times in the 100-yard breast, 200-yard IM, and 200-yard breast would have placed her in 13th twice and 14th in the 200-meter breast. |
